Post Boxing Day Boxing Day

I decided not to go boxing day shopping this year. At first it seemed like such an awesome idea. But by the end of the day, I went stir crazy. Note to self, deprivation is never the way to go. When not doing a certain activity, one must replenish with another activity in the same intensity.

Sitting at home instead of shopping was definitely not an equal exchange.

Luckily for me, Talize had their "boxing day" on the 27th this year. Everything 50% off!

This is my haul!

Clothes in a pile, Talize haul, leather jacket, hm garden shirt, parasuco shirt, fringe suede leather vest, scarf, sequined top, little black dress

These days, boxing day lasts for at least a week it seems. Making going shopping on the 26th more of a sport training event than anything else. My vote next year is to visit boutiques, they would much more likely hold one-day sales that is true to Boxing Day.

Last year, I went to Talize on the 26th because they had their 50% off sale then. But this year, I received an email that they were to have the 50% off sale on the 27th. It is a very smart strategy in my opinion. Since people are probably shopping at full price retail on the 26th. And it has given me a second chance to scratch my deal seeking itch.

I am very happy with what I went home with. The best part is, I spent less than 60 dollar! Wee!

I can't wait to incorporate them into my wardrobe.

Let's take a closer look at some of the items.

I have always been a fan of Parasuco in my younger years. Their designs in the early 2000's is fantastically awesome. Recently though, it seems they have gone the safer route. But this shirt is definitely from the earlier genre.

Parasuco white lace like shirt, white lace shirt, parasuco, Talize Find, Thrift Fashion

I am a child of the 80's. More so than ever I have been embracing the shoulder pads. I love all things retro and this leather jacket sums it all up. It's buttery soft and beautifully worn in. Yet it's in impeccable condition. Best part of this, it was only $7.00 after the discount! Oh, not to mention, I have ALWAYS wanted one with the detail on the sleeves, collar and the lining.

80's leather jacket, retro leather jacket, Totally 80's women's leather jacket, 80't leather jacket made in England, Talize Find, Thrift fashion

The shirt lends itself well to layering since it is so form fitting. With the addition of this detailed sweater, a scarf and the leather jacket, an outfit is born. All courtesy of Talize!

retro leather jacket, parasuco shirt, sweater, scarf, Talize finds, Thrift finds, thrift fashion, totally 80's women's leather jacket, layering

The disco pants in this post would finish off the outfit beautifully.

From my haul, forms yet another outfit. This time, one decade older.

Welcome to the flower child era of the 70's. By this, I mean the H&M Garden Collection white cotton shirt and this awesome suede fringe vest.

HM garden white cotton shirt, suede fringe vest, 70's suede vest, Talize find, Thrift fashion

Some say that fringe is out, it was doomed from the start anyway. Something so impractical and filled magic can't possibly be made to last. But I never obeyed any rules any way. To finish off this outfit, I would borrow the bottoms from this post.

Finally, something with a bit of sparkle. Just in time for the last party of the year.

Little black dress, beaded cropped top, new years eve dress, Talize find, thrift find, thift fashion, party fashion

I actually walked past that top three times. Hesitated and left it alone again and again. Until finally I decided there would be no harm in trying it on. What do you know, it would end up being one of my favourite purchases that day.

I can never get sick of that feeling when at the check out, my total comes to the amount of how much one retail item would cost me.

Thrifting, definitely an art form that requires a little bit of timing, a little bit of luck and a lot of patience. It is also so rewarding when shopping means saving the planet and donating to charity.

Happy Hipster Christmas

Today turned out to be a 2 post day. I feel amazing that this morning Jeannie of gracefully50 nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award. I have only been at this for a short amount of time. So far I have received warm welcomes from the community, this hobby has proven to be more than just some self amusement project. It is now really enriching my life.

Now back to my original post.

It's three more sleeps until Christmas morning!

This year, the end kind of creeped up on me. Tomorrow, I begin my winter holidays. Can't wait to just lay around and do nothing.

A few weeks ago, Community Thrift and Vintage, one of my favourite places to shop at, opened their second store locations. During the visit, I found the most amazing sweater!

Christmas Tree with presents underneather, Community Thrift and Vintage find, Ulgy Christmas sweater, Red pumps, black pants, Vintage fashion, Thrift Fashion, Street Style, hipster chic

It looks brand new and never been washed! So hipster chic.

It will probably be my main lounge wear during my break.

These are some activities I will engage in while being a chic hipster during this holiday.

Maybe I will stand again. Is it Christmas yet?

Fine, I will read a book. Chairs, interesting...

Oh, someone's at the door.

Ah, it's my boyfriend. Now he can join me! This is what we are going to do together, in both of our hipster sweaters.

And when it's finally Christmas, we will do this.

This is how hipster celebrate Christmas isn't it? My mind has been scrambled a bit from listening to Christmas music all day long since the first of December.

I hope everyone is faring well with all the festive preparations. It's almost that time of the year.

On me, vintage hipster sweater from Community Thrift and Vintage, dropped crotch cotton pants from Aritzia, red pumps that I love from C'est la vie consignment boutique. Shopstyle has some amazing sweaters and red pumps as well.
On him, vintage sweater and turtle neck from his parents' closet, jeans from Fidelity Denim, sneakers from Aldo.

Merry Christmas!

A Little 40's, Fur and Velvet and Versace

'Tis the time for festive parties.

In addition to the hustle and bustle of end of year celebrations, my favourite thing about this time of the year is parties. Getting dressed to impress and set out on the town.

This year, I am channeling the 40's. Starting with this lovely leading lady on the silver screen.

Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffanys poster, Breakfast at Tiffanys

From her inspiration, I have conjured up this outfit.

Fur Shawl, velvet gown, Versace for Hm chocket, Gold clutch

Clutch from Aldo Accessories, a while ago
Velvet gown from Le Chateau, a while ago
Choker from Versace for H&M collection, recent
Fur Shawl from Talize

I love the silhouette of a full length gown. It has such understated elegance, yet it makes a big statement.

Versace for HM choker, velvet dress, party dress, party style, chic style, street style, curly hair

In addition to that extra sparkle of the Versace for H&M logo choker. Adds just the right amount of glitter. Not over powering but enhances the whole look.

Versace for H&M logo choker, Versace for H&M, Velvet Gown, party style, party fashion, chic dress, 40's inspired, curly hair

I love my hair. The owner of Impulse Hair and Nail Salon is a friend of mine from highschool. She is meticulous and skillful. I have never left feeling disappointed. Any special occasion, if possible, I will always seek her magic.

Versace for H&M logo choker, Curly hair, Velvet dress, party style

The finishing touch has to be this beautiful vintage fur shawl.

Versace for H&M choker, Velvet gown, fur shawl from Talize, Talize find, curly hair, party style, chic style, party dress, 40's inspired

Again, Talize comes through. This is one of my most prized finds from there.

Now I am ready to set out on the town.

But wait, this joyous occasion cannot be complete without my true companion. He's featured in the "About" page. Not only is he an instrumental part of this site, he is also my one and only. I feel truly blessed to have him by my side.

Zara suit, Ralph Lauren shirt, Velvet gown, Versace for H&M choker, dapper style, men's fashion, party style, curly hair, party style, chic style

On him, Zara Euro cut silver suit. Best part, it was on sale.
Calvin Klein dress shirt. It was also on sale from the Seattle Premium Outlets.
Brown loafers from Nordstrom Rack.
Proving that men can look great on a budget as well
The trick though, is tailoring.

Hope everyone is having a festive party season.

Power pants, fur and leather

Sometimes, even when you are fully dressed, you feel half dressed.

Why is that?

Community Thrift and Vintage, Pirate Shirt, High wasited shiny pants, American Apparel, Disco Pants in Black, Ikea Mirror, Vintage Fashion, Thrift Fashion, Street Style, Style

Wait, I know what I need.

These!

Platform wedge studded sandals, Platform, wedge, studded wedge

Ah, that's better.

But something is still missing.

Fenneli Purse, Platform wedge sandals, fur collar, Community Thrift and Vintage, Brown leather jacket

I think I am ready to head out of the door now.

Vintage Fashion, Thrift Fashion, Street Style, Style, Retro leather jacket, pirate shirt, from Community Thrift and Vintage, American Apparel shiny high waisted Disco black pants

Oh wait, got to put up my hair first.

Yay road trip to Seattle!

Back to true poser fashion.

I love how they are all different shades of brown. But because of the different texture. It makes everything so interesting.

Vintage Fashion, Thrift Fashion, Street Style, Style, Fenneli purse, faux foxtail from Front and company, fur collar from value village, leather jacket and shirt from community thrift and vintage, american apparel disco pants, Street Style, Fashion

This is one of my favourite outfits. Not the easiest to wear due to the shoes. But damn does it have impact.

What makes me so happy is the fact most of this outfit is composed of thrift finds.

The fur collar was from the Value Village Hastings location. The collar is super versatile, can be clipped on to any jacket or coat to add that extra warmth and hmph.

The leather jacket, purse and the pirate shirt were from Community Thrift and Vintage.

I love this purse, I actually acquired her not too long ago. I love how they go so well together.

The foxtail looks like it was made for this purse. The tail was from Front and Company.

These American Apparel Disco pants are amazing! It just sucks everything in! I actually have them in Silver and Blue as well.

Last but not least at these shoes. They were a travel buy. During my trip to Montreal in the summer, my girls and I happened upon this amazing shoe boutique in old Montreal. The store was just racks and racks of shoes ranging from size 5 and up. Size FIVE!!! I am usually 5 or 5.5 in heels, which I can never really find here for some reason. I was so happy and ended up buying three pairs of shoes. This fierce little number was amongs that haul. Very satisfied.

With our bellies filled with Crab Pot I can finally head home happy.

Next time, must seek out the thrift stores in Seattle as well.

Happy Thrifty Thursday - Talize and Community

Happy first day of December! I would quickly like to do a shout out to all the gentlemen that participated in Movember. Thank you all for sacrificing your face for a good cause. If you ask me, I kind of dig the creepy. *wink* Congratulations on raising over $36 million in the month of November Canadian Mo-men. I am very proud!

Today is also my Thrifty Thursday, for no other reason than I simply love alliteration!

Talize, my favourite thrift store ever had their 50% off everything sale. I love bargains; I consider thrift shopping the ultimate bargain hunting, but thrift at 50% off? Say no more.

These are some of the goodies I got.
Talize shopping haul, HBC vintage red top, Abercrombie and Fitch muscle shirt, Floral top, Kensie Girl denim dress, Grey sweat shirt dress

From top left.
Vintage red top
Kensie Girl denim dress
Floral elastic waist top
Abercrombie and Fitch muscle shirt
Grey sweater dress

I realize none of these items are desperately calling out to spring and summer. Perhaps my unconscious mind was trying to tell me something? Cold and dreary does make me very melancholy.

Talize price tags

But knowing that all these tags adds up to the price of one regular priced retail item makes me so sneak happy!

Let's take a closer look at these items.

Abercrombie and Fitch muscle shirt, A&F pink polo, Pink polo

I actually didn't pick this out. My boyfriend did. Side note, I am so happy he can go thrift shopping with me!
However, its way too tight on him so I stole it instead. Brings me back to my tomboy days where all I wore were boy clothes.

Kensie Girl Jean dress, Large button jean dress, Kensie Girl, Talize find

I love those huge buttons. I would totally wear this dress with obnoxious floral tights, cowboy boots and high pigtails.

Vintage red shirt, red crop shirt, Talize find

This top is amazing. It embodies the essence of Talize. Sifting through everything just to find a gem like this. The colour is rich, the style is retro. Don't even get me started on the shoulder pads! I die!

I can't wait to take these babies out for spins.

In the more immediate future, I did get an item that would help me get through winter.

Fenneli leather backpack, Fenneli bag, Leather backpack, Community Thrift and Vintage find

I call her my mage purse.

She was just resting nonchalantly when I saw her at Community Thrift and Vintage.

The day I stumbled upon this store made me very happy! It's located at 41 West Cordova Street between Carrall and Abbott.

Actually, today, they opened their second location on Carrall street. The new location will just sell women's items. It is also much closer to where I live!

I love easy shopping.
Back to my mage purse. She can be worn many ways. As a backpack.

Fenneli Purse backpack style, Fenneli leather backpack, Faux Foxtail, Front and Company, Community Thrift and Vintage Find

For some reason, from this angle, everything just looks that much more important.
Especially when amplified by this oh-so-matching faux foxtail from Front and Company.

As an over the should bag.

The handle can be threaded over the metal loop to open up the sling.

She looks so cute from behind.

Fenneli Purse backpack style, Fenneli leather backpack, Faux Foxtail, Front and Company, Community Thrift and Vintage Find

I love the aged leather detail on her. She has some history.

Fenneli Purse backpack style, Fenneli leather backpack, Faux Foxtail, Front and Company, Community Thrift and Vintage Find

Sometimes, scars from the past, the ones that took a long time to form will resurface and hurt just as much.

As if to remind you of the person you used to be, where you came from. Those scars, as much as they may hurt, they were instrumental in shaping you as a person today.

Like these marks on this bag, I will never know when they happened or how they occurred. But I know without them, the bag would not be the same, nor will I love her as much.

Embrace that which it hurts us, I heard it builds character.

Let's end off on a happy note shall we? I am quite proud of this collage.

Fenneli Purse backpack style, Fenneli leather backpack, Faux Foxtail, Front and Company, Community Thrift and Vintage Find

Yes, I just learned how to compose them and is now addicted! So, sue me!

Hope you all had a fantastic first day on the last month of the year.
