Instagram is saving me these days. Oh, feel free to follow me on Instagram under PoserSeries. I would be oh so happy.
Step aside DSLR, looks like my unexpected iPhone is earning its keep quite fast.
Here are my work outfits captured by my palm sized super machine.
I love this outfit. Since I bought the skirt I have not worn it because it is a little hard to style. But it worked really well with these pieces since it shows off the skirt perfectly.
I did not originally wear this skirt to work. The package of the skirt and tights et. al. arrived on that same day.
When I got to work, I realize they went amazingly well with the rest of my outfit and voila.
Outfit: romwe.com hi lo skirt from this post
Romwe.com tights
Forever21 top, old
Aritzia cardigan, old
Finally, we have what I cm wearing today.
Today is probably the only day that I am dressed in a traditional business casual outfit. Since the rest of the outfit is not super exciting, I chose to showcase this necklace.
From BCBGeneration collection, it is absolutely amazing. I love the drama it adds to a plain outfit.
Almost the weekend. It's going to be sunny tomorrow, hope you all will have a chance to enjoy it.
*Apologies to my subscribers for getting this post three times. On the phone it said posting failed. Looks like there are some kinks after all :P*
I have a iPhone now, though it came to me in an unexpected way. My Blackberry decided to break at a crucial moment which forced me to seek a new phone. But once I got the new phone, the BB decided to work again.
That's life I guess? Well it's a good thing. I love this phone.
I can do so much more. Such as documenting my eccentricity on the fly.
April showers and May flowers they say. I hope they are right, we have been getting some extremely weird weather lately.
However, in all this erraticism we get beautiful peaks of sunlight that brightens the day.
Today, I will show you the perfect transition outfit. For unpredictable weather.
Last summer, while visiting my beautiful friend and shopping buddy in Toronto, I fell in love with these amazing Versace shades from the store she was working at Fashionably Yours.
Since she work there, I got these upside down orange shades for a steal.
I always trip people out when I wear them, they can't help but wanting to flip them over.
That's precisely why I love them so much.
Perfect for a day of frolicking in the sun.
Since it's not particularly that warm out yet, this leather jacket is the perfect outer wear. I am still amazed that I found it at Talize. Though it is not that evident in this photo, and sorry for forgetting to take photos of the back side, the fur trim looks like wings from the back.
If it gets warmer, a thin black cardigan will also do to cover up the outfit. Mine was from Aritzia awhile ago.
My favourite part of this outfit would have to be this tube dress.
From Gentille Alouette, it captures a sunny day perfectly. Light fabric, fun print with a touch of denim.
I like how all of the colours work really well together even though they are seemingly random pieces.
Finally it's warm enough to let a little more skin show.
I am never one to wait to wear something newly acquired.
I present to you the Deena & Ozzy studded wedges I mentioned last post. These shoes are the most awesome shoes ever for looking so fierce!
So settle in and let me narrate you a story.
Sometimes, you find yourself in a day dream.
The setting changes, and all you can do is spin.
Then, something captures your attention. A piece of history, an item that used to function.
A distraction, a sound in the far distance.
You wonder away and find a path.
The path leads to a door.
Then you are surrounded, by a galaxy of stars that gleams beneath your feet.
Before you know it, it all ends but you find yourself at the exact same place you started, except you have been through a journey.
Outfit: Life is Beautiful t-shirt from Forever21
Studded belt from BCBG that I flipped inside out
Pleatted half sheer maxi shirt from Talize
Silver Aldo clutch from The Spree
Deena & Ozzy Black studded wedges that are super awesome from Urban Outfitters
I am terrible in heels. Or I am just really bad at choosing foot wear that is comfortable and sexy. Those things exist right?
So far though, something that elevates me to dangerous heights have been designed to murder my feet.
However, they only had bigger sizes left. As I was about to leave empty handed, these babes caught my eye instead.
These Deena & Ozzy studded platform wedges are so comfortable. The studs actually look like sparkles instead when worn. See them in action in my next post.
I worked in them all day and not a single complaint. Expect maybe they make me tower over our work drawers a little too much and I ended up having to bend too low.
I still want a pair of Litas for myself though. Good thing they come in such a rainbow array of patterns and colours.
Why am I staring at this particular portion of Granville street with such fondness and admiration?
I promise you it's not just because of the graffiti.
It's because this happened there a couple of nights ago.
They are not just any buskers, they are a group called the Sons of Granville.
Here is a taste of their amazing talent.
These guys are absolutely amazing. When we walked by, they were just in between songs; however, judging from the crowd that has gathered, Mike and I decided to stop and listen.
I was not prepared for what happened in the next 10 minutes.
The first song I was able to catch is titled Sons of Granville. The guitar intro by Matthew Lennox had a distinct Spanish flare, brings me to a place where a Matador is readying himself to enter the fighting ring. I knew at that moment I was in for a treat. Then the viola was brought to life by Thomas Beckman. I felt chills run down my entire body.
I have always loved string instruments, the sounds made by a bow against string resonates with my very core. Especially that of which brought forth by the viola. I am not a musical expert by any means, please bare with me as I get across my most genuine feeling of admiration via limited terms I am able to use to describe how their music has moved me.
So chills, they lasted through the entire song, and waves would wash over me with the natural progression of their song, so passionate and soulful.
When the song ended I was still frozen. Reveling...
I looked over at Mike and I can see he was also impressed.
When Matthew said they only had one CD left, I jumped at the chance to own it.
As luck would have it, they performed a final song, appropriately titled Swagger, a quality as all of these guys undoubted possess.
Again, the notes from the expertly played instruments ring out, anchored by Jerrett Plett on drums.
My hand finds Mike's and I never want the moment to end.
Next day I woke up and knew what my next entry was going to be.
With an outfit inspired by this Brian Croft painting, we set out to capture Granville in the day light.
With one last look back at the street, I walk off and Granville street has forever changed for me.
I smirk as I remember the tickets I have back home for their up coming show. April 27th 8pm at the Denman Place Theatre. Tickets are only $15 plus service charges.
If you are also mesmerized by the way they translate their soul for the world to hear, please join me at their concert.
As I dedicate to you in closing, a song about freedom.
Currently obsessed with this Gotye song, Somebody that I used to know.
I am sure a lot of you are in the same situation.
Incredible music video, too.
I really know the simplicity of the music video. He is really just singing against a geometrically painted background. The light hues are painted over him as well to camouflage him against the background. She appears, painted as well until they realize they are no longer the person they used to know.
The is the outfit I cannot help but conjure up; though much more romantic than the song. But I cannot ignore the romantic undertone of the song, the yearning, and wishing that they are still with that somebody, they used to know.
