Vintage DIY Fur Vest and Muff Outfit

Finally, we had a decent sunny day last Friday.

Perfect time to rock out my DIY vintage fur vest and fur muff.

I just can't bring myself to wearing fur out in the rain. Which in Vancouver is 90% if the time a fur piece is actually needed.

So whenever a cold and sunny day presents itself, I jump on it without hesitation.

I completed the outfit with a lot of layers. It's extremely cold still after all.

The amazing thing about maxi skirt for the winter, is that you can layer it over many layers of tights.

I'm quite happy with this DIY streak I have going on.

Busy hands lead to a sharp mind. What? You have never heard of that saying before? Well, you have now.

Show and Tell Tuesday Alice and Olivia Luggage

The Neiman Marcus for Target collection may not have done as well as they were anticipated to.

But their loss is my gain.

I scored this Beetlejuicelicious rollie carry on luggage for $50!

I love the neon trim and detail.

The handle extend to the perfect height for dragging.

Look how cute the ID tag is.

And the zippers!!

Lining is a pretty shade of blue.

It even comes with these convenient little pouches to hold the labeled items.

Even a matching luggage lock.

I'm not so savvy in terms of luggages. Maybe they all come with these little accessories. But I'm beyond impressed by these details.

Finally, the best part! Three sixty super smooth free rolling wheels!

These feel like butter.

I can't wait to take her with me on my next vacation.

DIY Flower Head Band

Happy Monday.

I am wishing for spring time, yes, I know it's old news.

Ever since I made my self that daisy crown last summer. I have been obsessed with flowers on the crown.

Been meaning to make my own for sometime now. Finally, I pulled the trigger and bought some materials.

Michael's had a sale and I got these springy bushels for 40% off.

I am going to make two different ones.

I will demonstrate using the pink ones.

You will also need some tools.

pliers, wire cutter and floral wire, diy flower head band tools

Pliers, wire cutter and floral wire. All can be purchased from your local crafts store.

You will also need a head band.

I looked in my "drawer of lost artifacts" and found this peacock dangly one that I never wear anymore. The feathers adds an extra dimension to the look.

You can use any old head band you like, but I would suggest choosing one close to your hair colour.

Floral tape is an optional item. I will explain later.

floral tape

Step 1. Strip all the flowers off of the stem.

The reason why for these flowers is because they are not attached the the stem, just snapped on to it.

It would be much more secure to directly tie the flowers to the head band not involving any stems.

Step 2. Make your own flexible wire stems.

Do so by threading the flower through the floral wire.

Pull it through.

You should be able to do this with these rose type flowers. They are usually hollow in the middle.

Then, you want to fold the wire down through the pedals to form a stem.

There might be some flowers that you won't be able to thread through.

Never fear, you can still wrap the wire on securely by going through the back.

Put it in between the green part and the pink pedals and go around once.

Then twist the wires.

Step 3. Wrap the flowers onto the head band.

I would definitely recommend using pliers to ensure a tight wrap.

Stop until you have achieved the desired fullness and length.

Step 4. *optional* Wrap floral tape around the stems of the flower and the head band

The flowers should hold without this step. I do this only to hide wrap and conceal the prickly ends of the wires. Depends on how you have wrapped the flowers, there may be some ends prickling your head when you wear it.

But if there is nothing prickling after you have tried it on, then you can skip this step.

I'm quite happy with how this turned out.

The entire project took me less than 1hr.

Make sure you are allowed to operate sharp tools on your own, other wise, please seek help from someone else.

Hope this was helpful. Can't wait to style this out with an outfit.

Aritzia Online Order Unboxing

So, have you too been bombarded by these "further reductions" emails from your favourite brands lately?

January is truly the best time to shop. Too bad of our wallets are recuperating from the holidays still.

I caved recently when Aritzia sent out their Siren's call.

Seduced yet again I reduced my shopping cart from six items to three.

Trigger was pulled and the shipment showed up three days after.

Retail therapy certainly works wonders for me.

I love it when a company pays attention to detail. The outer box is immediately impressive to me.

Then the inner box showed matching designs.

The items are even encased in their iconic wrapping.

The inner box is lined with the most perfect shade of peach.

Yes, I do love being thanked.

And finally, the product of my restraint.

Some Talula Red BRONX PANT and Blue CLAREMONT PANT and a Wilfred velvet blazer.

Twists on some key basics that I can't wait to play around with.

So Sick of Winter

Announcement: Last day of Jennyfleur Loves Boutique Mega sale! Go check it out, even if it's just during your lunch break.

It has been so foggy that past few days, contributing to a 12-day no rain streak.

No fog now, but instead, replaced by much more obvious form of precipitation.

I am so tired of this weather. I wish I was back in California, or just anywhere that would allow me to not dress in layers.

Figures, just when I am determined to step outdoors to try my self portraiting skills, typical Vancouver weather heavily stifles my plans.

No matter, indoor dress up play it will have to be for awhile longer.

Since I am shielded from the elements, why not dress like I have been wanting to?

These are the bright elements I choose.

Neon pink lita style shoes, neon spikey bracelet, romwe lighting tights, unif dolla long sleeved tshirt, marc jacobs scarf

Unif Dollar sign long sleeved tshirt from Jennyfleur Loves Boutique. For a more similar weather appropriate version, see here.

Neon Lita style platform boots. I bought those online and under the impression that they would be much less neon. For a more subdued version, see here.

Marc Jacobs scarf, see here.

Romwe Lightning Print Leggings

Perhaps being indoors right now isn't too bad.

Neon pink lita style shoes, neon spikey bracelet, romwe lighting tights, unif dolla long sleeved tshirt, marc jacobs scarf, outfit, style, vintage dior purse

Gives me more practice with posing and setting the camera settings properly.

But I still miss the sun dearly.

So I will perform my own version of some sun dance.

Darn... I guess it didn't really work.

Oh wells, more indoor photo taking practice it is.

I just wish the background was a tad more interesting.

DIY Crop Top

Keeping with my Ecofashion goal, I have a simple project for anyone to do.

I have this cute Threadless t-shirt.

threadless dandelion t shirt

Haha, DandeLIONs. So cute.

I love it as is, except I got this big stupid stain on it that I can't seem to remove.

threadless dandelion t shirt, stain on Tshirt

Luckily, it's on the lower portion of the Tshirt. So enter, Edward Scissor Hands. Kidding, just some scissors.

threadless dandelion t shirt, stain meets scissors

Make a fold and then make the cut.

Now I have a cute crop top. To jazz it up even more, cut the neck in a wide semi circle. Choose a point that is midway between the neck and shoulder seam.

threadless dandelion t shirt

I really like wide neck shirts.

Voila! A brand new shirt from where we started.

Do you have some old Tshirts you don't wear anymore? Maybe it can benefit from this make over as well.
