Black and White

As promised, the first outfit styled out from my reaping at the Jennyfleur Loves sale.

Sometimes the I come home with the most inconspicuous item from a load and it ends up being my favourite piece.

Like this sheer Cheap Monday sheer maxi skirt. For similar one, see here.

I have chosen to add it to this amazingly embellished white bodycon dress by Ciel.

I feel the contrast of this outfit gives it so much drama.

By the way, I love my new solarium. Provides the proper amount of refuge to the cold winter days for me to play dress up that would suit the warmer months.

We Love Colors

I am definitely no stranger to colors!

Just the other day I realized I really don't have a little black dress. Colors are such an important part of our everyday lives, it's in everything we do.

Why not celebrate them by embracing them in our wardrobe?

www.welovecolors.com know exactly what it means to celebrate all facets of life by capturing them in vivacious items of clothing.

Yellow on Yellow at the Port

Sometimes, an outfit is completely born by accident.

I usually mix my colours, evident in all my other posts.

But on one particular day, I just needed to quickly run out so I thru on my One Teaspoon yellow kimono and grabbed my Gucci and headed out. In my trusted elevator mirror, I was struck by how well the yellow and yellow worked together.

Thus, a new outfit is born. Accidentally.

The white lace, becomes the perfect pedestal to show off the brightness of the yellow.

I started to work in BC's oldest municipality recently. I love a location that is marred by history. Coming from a country with one of the oldest civilizations in the world, North America, by comparison seems like a baby.

Perhaps that's why I am drawn to things of vintage.

Since the setting feels so artistic, I have decided to put some artistic spins on my usual photos. Hope you all enjoy.

Kiss of the Golden Sun

The weather gods have been extremely generous last week, until the weekend that is.

I still had enough time to go traipse around in my new maxi statement dress.

I have this dress in two colours.

I originally only knew of the dark version until I visited the websites that carried the dresses.

You can also get it here.

At the time, the dark version was only available in L, but the white version was available in all three sizes.

Knowing that the large may not fit as well as a medium and small I decided to order both dresses. The dark in a Large and the white in a Small and hoped for the best.

They both arrived super fast.

I am so glad I ordered them in both colours because even though they are the same dress, the colour difference dramatically changes the entire look.

I will do a side by side shoot in the future.

I love how this dress is short in the front, adding some sex appeal to a sweet print.

The only criticism I have is that I have to wear this dress with a belt. Perhaps it's the way it's cut, perhaps it's the shape of my body, if I don't cinch at the waist, the whole thing looks much more frumpy.

But my trusted flower belt from Gentille Alouette does the trick very well.

I also love clothing that takes on a life of their own when I move around.

The dress seem to be dancing with me.

The glow of the setting sun highlighting my outline makes my heart jump for the joy that it will be summer very soon.

That means, the dress can be worn without the accompaniment of these tights.

Who am I kidding, I will probably live in these tights through out summer.

Fashion Graffiti

Since I am not the most eloquent speaker, I have decided to borrow from the words of those that are.
Yves Saint Laurent once said, fashion fades, style is eternal.

I can honestly say I do not know very much about fashion. The industry itself is not something I ever identified myself with. I do not follow trends, aside from the major design houses, I am oblivious to labels.

Growing up, my parents kept my hair short so my mother would not need to spend a lot of time in the morning to fix my hair. Thus, I have always taken the persona of a energetic tom-boy. I rarely wore dresses, I rode my bright blue sports bike everywhere. Climbed trees, tread water in the ponds, caught insects, terrorized my grandparents, got shot at by bb-guns, and eagerly shot back.

I never thought I was girly in the least bit. And to be fashionable, you had to be girly. Those two things came hand in hand, right?

But I had always been different, I would wear the only elastic high waisted ripply flower skirt I had on my head and pretended that was long hair.

Fast forward till my late teens. Finally, I grew out my hair, along with my maturing curves, I can no longer blend in as a tom-boy.

Scarves would be worn as a belt, ties would be worn as head bands. Colour rules based on the seasons were never followed.

I have always admired artists, to be able to take an idea in their heads and outwardly express it on an canvass and share it with the world.

Even more so, is my love for graffiti, it is original, personal, loud, spontaneous, fun and amazing. To the graffiti artist, the whole world is their canvas.

I take the same approach to my personal style. I shop almost exclusively thrift. I love the hunt, I love creating outfits on the spot. I love spotting diamonds in the rough.
