Shopping Haul from LA

Just got back from LA yesterday. Had such a great time going to theme parks and shopping.

It's such a gorgeous day in Vanncouver today. Looks like I came back just in time and missed the week worth of rain.

Downtown Vancouver View

I am going to share some of my favourite items amongst my loot with you guys today.

Solarium

Michael re-organized the solarium recently as well. It's such a cute reading place now. Today, I will use it as my photo room.

As my previous post chronicled, the only place I found something on the first day was from American Vintage.

These are the lovely items I found. The best is this vintage Salvatore Ferragamo loafers.

We went into Beverley Hills the days following and true shopping really started.

On Ventura Blvd, I came in contact with Wasteland and Crossroads Trading Company.

On our final day, I found Buffalo Exchange.

Finally, I have satisfied my thrift cravings.

As luck would have it, the Target and Neimen Marcus collection was on clearance for 70% off!

Luckily, most of the items I wanted are still in stock, albeit most were the last ones left.

Fall is here: Harvest Skirt and Scarf Top

One last chance to enter the giveaway for a Rebecca Minkoff Pouch I will draw the winner at around 10pm PST! Good luck :)

It was so cold yesterday.

Looks like my furs and coats have to come out of storage soon.

However, the days are still a bit hard to dress for, in the sun it's actually quite warm. Probably why I am now sick with a cold.

My welcome to the fall outfit this year is still somewhat summery.

This is us getting ready to get to the shoot. But a great chance to show you guys the back of the outfit. I essentially tied a square silk Obakki scarf by each of the corners and made a top. It goes perfectly with the skirt since it accentuates the high waist tie detail of the skirt.

These are the accesories I picked with the outfit. A blue is perfect to break up an entire outfit made with harvest muted colours. Blue also works well to contrast anything orange or pink or purple.

We were going to go outside for the shoot, but my building lobby caught my attention. The fireplace, paintings, furniture all screams a day crisp day spent inside with some coco, a blanket and a good book.

When I first put on this skirt, I was not only impressed with how well it fit me, but with how fun it would be to spin in this.

Look how well it spreads on a chair?

The blue of the purse seems almost out of place, yet it gives the eye something different to focus on. I love the drama it creates.

Seems newer condos all lack a fireplace now. Well, I'm glad I don't have one as it will make arranging furniture much more difficult. But that doesn't mean this one in the lobby doesn't make me want to sit next to it.

Skirt and shoes are thrifted from Talize, LV purse from eBay and scarf top from Obakki. To make this outdoor friendly, throw over a nice wool coat, or a fur stole.

Work will be getting slightly more unpredictable, of course I will still be posting as much as I can.

Much love, enjoy your hump day.

Gypsy Night Market Vintage Sale

Last night Michael just got back from Tough Mudder, some crazy race for crazy people.

We decided to go for a stroll and check out the Chinatown Night Market, since it was only a couple of blocks away.

As expected, it was kind of sad. Next time I am just going to head straight to the Richmond ones.

However, the night was not a total bust. On the way home, we walked past The Fortune Sound Club. Usually filled with your dancing drinking variety of events. However, last night they had a special fashion and shopping guest, Gypsy Market Vintage. To match the neighbourhood happenings, it's a special Night Market Vintage Sale. Well, of course I had to go in!

It was well worth it.

Yellow on Yellow at the Port

Sometimes, an outfit is completely born by accident.

I usually mix my colours, evident in all my other posts.

But on one particular day, I just needed to quickly run out so I thru on my One Teaspoon yellow kimono and grabbed my Gucci and headed out. In my trusted elevator mirror, I was struck by how well the yellow and yellow worked together.

Thus, a new outfit is born. Accidentally.

The white lace, becomes the perfect pedestal to show off the brightness of the yellow.

I started to work in BC's oldest municipality recently. I love a location that is marred by history. Coming from a country with one of the oldest civilizations in the world, North America, by comparison seems like a baby.

Perhaps that's why I am drawn to things of vintage.

Since the setting feels so artistic, I have decided to put some artistic spins on my usual photos. Hope you all enjoy.

Bridge of the seasons

This summer has never fully made a presence. Now it departs just shy of the end. Let us pay homage to the days where we don't quite know whether it is the beginning or the end. Like an infinity scarf that anchors an outfit.

I absolutely love this self-made infinity scarf! It's huge first of all, I can totally get lost in it. The cherry on top is the fact that it is a vintage item from Talize.

As I was driving down Granville, the store Zoe caught my eye. A quick trip inside lead me to their end of season sunglasses clear out. I was reunited with another pair of gold aviators. Versatile and easy to wear. Adds that extra pop to a lot of outfits.

Two years ago I started buying designer purses. A pink Balenciaga Giant City was pretty much my Holy Grail bag. Malleries.com is a great source for designer goods at amazing prices. Most importantly, it's a place where you can find discontinued colours. For a great review, visit, Spotted Fashion Reviews

I love pairing feminine pieces with some edge. The Kimchi Blue top's soft rosey hue is made extra apparent by the black bottoms. The studs on the Harley Davidson booties as well as the liquid black tightsgive outfit the right amount of edge. This outfit was thrown together the last minute. It was one of those rare days that both my boyfriend and I had the day off. A stroll to the park became more.

Fashion Graffiti

Since I am not the most eloquent speaker, I have decided to borrow from the words of those that are.
Yves Saint Laurent once said, fashion fades, style is eternal.

I can honestly say I do not know very much about fashion. The industry itself is not something I ever identified myself with. I do not follow trends, aside from the major design houses, I am oblivious to labels.

Growing up, my parents kept my hair short so my mother would not need to spend a lot of time in the morning to fix my hair. Thus, I have always taken the persona of a energetic tom-boy. I rarely wore dresses, I rode my bright blue sports bike everywhere. Climbed trees, tread water in the ponds, caught insects, terrorized my grandparents, got shot at by bb-guns, and eagerly shot back.

I never thought I was girly in the least bit. And to be fashionable, you had to be girly. Those two things came hand in hand, right?

But I had always been different, I would wear the only elastic high waisted ripply flower skirt I had on my head and pretended that was long hair.

Fast forward till my late teens. Finally, I grew out my hair, along with my maturing curves, I can no longer blend in as a tom-boy.

Scarves would be worn as a belt, ties would be worn as head bands. Colour rules based on the seasons were never followed.

I have always admired artists, to be able to take an idea in their heads and outwardly express it on an canvass and share it with the world.

Even more so, is my love for graffiti, it is original, personal, loud, spontaneous, fun and amazing. To the graffiti artist, the whole world is their canvas.

I take the same approach to my personal style. I shop almost exclusively thrift. I love the hunt, I love creating outfits on the spot. I love spotting diamonds in the rough.
