Posing in Vintage Hand-me-downs

When you keep things long enough, it's bound to come back into fashion.

Too bad when my family moved to Canada in 1996 my mom left most of her wardrobe back there.

Luckily I have wonderful friends and their mother's closets for me to pick through.

I am all about recycled fashion and ecostyle.

Recently, I am also all about neutrals. Perhaps my taste really is maturing with age.

This outfit is absolutely perfect for a lazy summer's day.

Even more perfect accented by my vintage Chanel pin collected over the last couple of years.

A tiny pop of colour with this vintage faberge egg necklace.

It's also the perfect canvass for this Lana Del Rey style sunglasses.

This entire outfit including most of the accessories is either thrifted, bought second hand or hand-me-down. It's much more fun creating, mixing and matching.

Silk and Wool

We all have one of these days. You know what I am talking about, a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.

None of the combos amounted to something presentable.

Usually this happens on my day off, when I don't really know how to dress because I can virtually wear anything. I then get stuck in the limbo of wanting to wear everything.

Part of the dilemma was caused by the fact I just received the new Aritzia items I have ordered. This delicate silk shirt seen above is going to become an outfit whether it likes it or not.

Usually, I would pair this with dress pants for a simple yet polished work outfit. But I wasn't going to work, so I was not going to be dressed in work pants. However, a bunch of other bottoms I have tried on just didn't work for some reason. Frustration is slowly starting to creep up.

Then I remembered this vintage wool skirt that I obtained recently from Pat's Vintage, and voila, and outfit was born.

My spirits immediately went from defeated to elated.

I have definitely had days where I was not digging what I put on and it shows. My entire body language is oozing the discomfort I am feeling.

The right outfit is a powerful thing.

Vintage Chanel

My love for Chanel has grown immensely over the past years. The Chanel brand is the epitome of class and style. The more I learn about the fashion house's heritage, the more respect I gain for it. Coco Chanel's was an orphan whom started to make her own suits and grew that into an international icon of class and style.

You could imaging then my thrill when I found these vintage Chanel pieces!

They work really well as separates, too. Adds that touch of class to any outfit.

Another reason to search for vintage pieces is also it's affordability factor. Most of the time, you can get a quality piece from your favourite couture house at a fraction of the retail price.

Happy Hump Day!
