EFW06 Review: Day 1 Nicole Bridger Installation Show

Eco Fashion Week 6th edition just wrapped up on Wednesday. It was a surreal experience being involved in it this year.

I did not want it to be over, so lets do a review. Starting with the show that started it all, Nicole Bridger.

Nicole Bridger is a Vancouver based fashion designer. Her "dynamic fashion line for a new generation of women who want to look effortlessly chic while maintaining a commitment to the earth and its people. Each collection is composed of stand-out pieces which reflect one’s individuality and femininity."

Her clothing are sold across the country, with stores in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Cochrane and Ottawa.

You can also purchase them online right here.

She couldn't have been a better choice to open Eco Fashion Week.

Her installation style interactive fashion art display was so unique! Perfect to show case her collection, aptly named "BE"

Be yourself, be beautiful, be truthful, be without judgement...

The models are all masked to symbolize that we all have to put masks on during our daily lives.

However, to truly embrace who we are, and to be, is to be without masks.

Be bold, be strong and be brave.

I had a chat with Nicole about her brand and discovered that being kind to the planet doesn't mean having to sacrifice style.

All her fabrics are ethically made form eco-friendly material. Her pieces are locally and ethically made as well. The pieces are all incredibly wearable and each piece is made to embrace the daily life.

She also jumped on her sewing machine and demonstrated her incredible skill. The entire show allowed the audience to really enjoy each piece of garment from every angle.

So go out there and embrace eco-fashion as it has already embraced you.

My Thrift Chic Journey

Today is the first day of Eco Fashion Week, I am actually watching the live streaming as I type out this post.

April 6th is the day that I got the call. From a simple twitter inquiry to conversing with the lovely Sonja Henrickson over the phone my Thrift Chic journey for Eco Fashion Week began.

Eco Fashion Week, Thrift chic challenge by value village

$500, 7 Value Villages and 15 outfits later, brings me to the day before the show.

I am no stranger to trudging through the isles in search of that next one-of-a-kind treasure. It felt like this challenge was made for me!

$500 goes a long way at Value Village, especially paired with their current 30% off promotion.

My involvement even drew the attention of Social Mod PR and Rachel wrote such a lovely piece on my experience for Thrifty and Green.

I hope my collection can do the eco-community proud. I love the idea of being Thrift Chic for any situation and under any circumstance.

Aside from saving massive dough, you are also helping out charitable organizations and being Eco-conscious to boot.

I can't wait to post the photos of the show afterwards. In the mean time, here is a teaser with a tally of all the money I spent on this collection. Thank you Savings Pass for making it possible for me to complete the challenge.

Here are the four seasons and how affordable they are.
