Vacation Recap

Hi darlings, been a week! Hope you have enjoyed the amazing weather, especially those that are based in Vancouver.

The past month has been a blur, right after the magic of Eco Fashion Week

Thrift Chic Challenge presented by Value Village from Eco FashionWeek on Vimeo.

I left on a jet plane with 8 of my closest girlfriends to paradise.

Now I am back and ready to resume life with it's regular pace.

Here is an over view of my trip.

Fresh cocoa bean that tasted like mangosteen. When dried and ground up, they become an integral part of chocolate. I much prefer eating it raw.

Pure Magnolia Eco Bridal Boutique

I am over the moon when I found out about this local designer.

Just as Eco Fashion Week 06 wraps up, I am met with more eco-goodness.

This time, in the most beautiful dress a girl will ever wear. Of course, that's my inner hopeless romantic speaking.

Pure Magnolia is a local bridal boutique that makes eco-friendly wedding dresses right in her North Vancouver studio.

I was invited to her launch event for the plus size and modular collection.

The dress on the right started out as this cute little number.

After adding a tulle skirt, it becomes this magnificent walking down the isle vision.

I love tulle.

I am no stranger to modular clothing, I love pieces that take on a complete new life with the addition or subtraction of one element.

This dress is a two in one, your ceremony and reception dress just one tulle away.

Patty also understands the female form and is dedicated to creating a piece that will flatter any figure. Her new collection will embrace the ladies with more va-va-va-voom and embrace plus size curves in flattering ways.

This beautiful plus sized gown took my breath away.

I have always dreamed of a floor sweeping stunner. But this slightly cropped version may have me rethinking my vision. This way, those amazing shoes I picture myself wearing are also effortlessly showcased.

The theme of this whole week of posts have been that eco can be so chic.

These Pure Magnolia gowns may just take the cake for being the chic-est.

All Patty's fabrics are either manufactured in North America or Europe and all produced in ethical ways. She also supports Our Social Fabric.

She also works hard on making sure every square inch of fabric is utilized if possible. Some will be turned into these darling embellishments.

All the gowns are made to measure and take up to 4 to 6 months to make. Fitting appointments are made along the way so brides can have as much input as possible in the look of their gown. A lot of her gowns are actually inspired by the brides that the gown was originally created for.

Her attention to detail and craftsmanship is outstanding.  The lace detail on this dress was refurbished from another dress.

All these belts can also go with any other dress as well.

I highly recommend visiting Pure Magnolia for your big day.

Patty will make sure you will shine bright in your eco-chic gown.  She can even update your mom's old dress to make it current and your own.

For the first year ever, she is also having a sample sale and selling some previous clients' gowns on consignment and at huge discounts.

All gowns come as is, but they are in immaculate condition, after all, we only wear our wedding dress that one day.

The sale starts this Saturday. Check here for event details.

Looks like I know where to go for my eventual big day.

Final day of EFW06 Vendors and Craftsmen Galore

Counting down Eco Fashion Week has made me more thankful than ever that we have so many sustainable and eco-friendly fashion options around us.

Especially in light of the factory collapse in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on April 27, 2013, we need to do our part to seek out more sustainable, local and ethical options.

A great option in Vancouver, aside from Value Village is My Sister's Closet. They support the Battered Women’s Support Services by donating their proceeds to them. Next time you need that perfect something, please check them out.

They get many amazing pieces donated to them from Aritzia and even locally filmed TV shows.

Next up is a local leather crafts maker Five Left.

"Originally from southern Washington state, designer lincoln heller worked in an Alaskan logging camp to pay for his schooling at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. It was there that he began working with leather in his spare time, making tool pouches from discarded boots. Upon returning to Vancouver BC, lincoln began crafting custom bags for men. fiveleft leather has since evolved into a full line of accessories for men and women, gaining recognition each season for its distinctive rugged yet refined look."

Their colourful and well made leather goods can brighten up any outfit.

This final designer has been one I have been watching for a while. They are the dynamic duo behind Hey Jude.

"Hey Jude Shop is a collection of vintage clothing that is curated by co-creators Lauren Clark and Lyndsey Chow. Based out of Vancouver, Hey Jude was born in 2010 after the girls realized how much they loved scouring markets and thrift stores around the world for the perfect pieces to add to their growing collections. With focus on quality, style and fabrics the collections always fit in seamlessly with the seasons current trends."

All amazing photos are brought to you by Peter Jensen Photography.

Until Fall, I can't wait to be more acquainted with more eco-designers, options and inspirations.
